"Exhale. You don't have to hold all of it alone."
Mindful Beginnings is a small, focused psychiatric practice in Victor, NY — created specifically for healthcare professionals and first responders. We know what it feels like to leave a shift carrying things you can't put down. We built a place where you can.
Our work is private, unhurried, and grounded in clinical experience. Whether you need ongoing support, a single conversation after a hard call, or structured debriefing for your team, we meet you where you are — in person, by telehealth, or over the phone, whichever feels right.
Your story stays yours. Always.
Board-certified psychiatric expertise.
Four ways to be supported — individually, in your team, or in the moments right after a critical incident.
Individual or small group — no cost, no catch. Because the first step shouldn't be a barrier.
Know a nurse, medic, or firefighter who carries more than they let on? A session or package makes a thoughtful, caring gift. Reach out and we'll help you arrange it discreetly.
Just starting out? Every session and package is half price for your first year. Mention it when you reach out — proof of enrollment or hire date is all we need.
One-on-one support focused on stress management, emotional processing, burnout prevention, and workplace challenges.
Ideal for ongoing support and resilience-building over time. A consistent space to return to, week after week.
Focused support following a particularly difficult workplace event. A structured space to begin processing what happened.
For teams, coworkers, or students who have shared a difficult experience and would benefit from guided reflection and support.
Laura is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with years of experience working in inpatient psychiatry, forensic mental health, and healthcare settings. She built Mindful Beginnings to offer the kind of care she knows healthcare professionals deserve — and rarely receive.
"I walked in carrying a week I couldn't put down. I walked out lighter. Heard. For the first time in a long time."
If you don't see your question here, reach out directly — we're happy to talk it through before you book.
Mindful Beginnings operates as a private-pay practice. This keeps your records out of insurance systems entirely — nothing is reported to your employer, licensing board, or health record. Payment is collected at the time of service via card, HSA, or FSA. Upon request, we can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Completely. Your sessions are protected under HIPAA and standard clinical confidentiality laws. Because we're private-pay, there's no insurance trail, no employer notification, and no shared EHR. The only legal exceptions are imminent safety concerns — which we'll walk through clearly at your first session, so you always know where the lines are.
Your first session is unhurried. We'll talk about what brought you in, what your work looks like, and what you're hoping to leave with. There's no script — no intake checklist running in the background. You can share as much or as little as feels right. By the end, we'll have a sense together of what kind of support fits: a single conversation, ongoing sessions, or something else entirely.
Yes — this practice was built for that reality. We offer early morning, late afternoon, and select evening appointments, and we'll work with you to find times that don't fight your sleep recovery after nights. If your schedule shifts month to month, we plan ahead block by block rather than locking you into a fixed weekly slot.
Flexible scheduling around shifts. Reach out and we'll find a time that works.
Prefer to talk from home or by phone? We also offer telehealth and phone sessions — whatever feels right for you.
Reach out to schedule an individual session, or to ask about debriefing for your team. We'll respond within one business day.
